Omnibus Directive EU Module
The module ensures compliance with the Omnibus Directive required by the European Union. It collects product and attribute prices and builds a price history covering the 30 days preceding a promotion, then informs the customer of the product's lowest price before the promotion.
The module supports: language versions, currencies, multistore, and combinations.
Compatible with PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7, 8, and 9.x.
We're here to help if you run into any issues. Includes 12 months of free support with your purchase.
Lifetime license.
Current module version: 3.4.0, for PrestaShop 1.6-1.7, v8, and v9 stores.
If you have an earlier version of the module, please contact us.
We'll send you the current version for installation.
The module brings your shop in line with the Omnibus Directive rules on announcing price reductions. It records product and combination prices, builds a history from them and, with every promotion, shows the lowest price from the thirty days preceding the reduction.
The module supports languages, currencies, multistore and combinations. It runs on PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7, 8 and 9.
What the Omnibus Directive requires
Whenever a price reduction is announced, the seller must state the lowest price that applied during the thirty days before the reduction. The information has to sit next to the promotional price — where the customer makes the decision.
It applies to every reduction announced as a promotion: percentage discounts, struck-through prices, discount codes that lower the product price, and “second item cheaper” campaigns.
Why PrestaShop cannot do this on its own
PrestaShop stores the current product price and any active specific prices. It does not store history. When you change a price, the previous value is gone and there is no table to recover it from. The history has to be collected separately — which is why no module can reconstruct prices from before it was installed. For the first thirty days after deployment the caption works on incomplete data.
The practical conclusion: install the module before your next sale, not during it.
Features
- Displays the lowest price from the 30 days before the reduction under the product price.
- Lets you exclude promotional prices from the history, so each new promotion does not lower the reference point.
- Shows amounts with or without tax, depending on the setting.
- Writes to the history only on an actual price change, so ordinary traffic costs nothing.
- Lets you skip combinations — in catalogues with many variants this cuts table size by an order of magnitude.
- Records every price change or, once switched, one entry per day from a cron job.
- Lets you limit the caption to the product page and hide it on listings.
- Draws a price history chart on the product page.
- Exports a product's price history to CSV.
The four events the module handles
Prices in PrestaShop change in several places, not only when a product is saved. The module listens to all four: the product save, and the creation, change and deletion of a specific price. Without that, promotions set through catalogue price rules would never reach the history.
If you update prices through a CSV import or an integration that writes straight to the database, PrestaShop hooks are not fired — that is what the daily cron job is for: it records the price state regardless of hooks.
Installation
The module file appears in your customer account once the payment is settled. Install it under Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module. The installer creates the history table and registers the hooks; afterwards you only need to open the configuration and save it once.
The most important post-install step is scheduling a daily cron job. It verifies the data and records price changes that bypassed the hooks.
